PGC PISTOL CLASSES
Overview:
Structured instructor lead training on the safe use of pistols at PGC is available at multiple levels from basic pistol shooting to advanced civilian concealed carry scenarios.
These courses are available only to members of the Palmetto Gun Club and their direct family members over the age of 21, with the exception that minors participating in the PGC Junior Program may enroll in the NRA Basic Pistol Course at any age.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course
Objectives: To learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Prerequisite: None
Class Length: 8 to 10 hours
Maximum Size: 6 - May vary depending on the number of instructors available.
Equipment Needed: Eye and ear protection, 100 rounds of ammunition - pistols can be made available if coordinated in advance. Pistols preferred for this class are .22; larger calibers are OK if student has some experience with them.
Cost to Student: $20 to defray the cost of materials
Certificate: Yes, NRA Basic Pistol

South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit Course
Objectives: To satisfy the South Carolina training and practical requirements for a Concealed Weapons Permit and gun handling skills that include safely presenting a pistol from concealed carry holster and shooting from concealment.
Prerequisite: NRA Basic Pistol Course - (See Note)
Class Length: 8 to 10 hours
Maximum Size: 4 - May vary depending on the number of instructors available.
Equipment Needed: Eye and Ear protection, modern handgun with strong side holster suitable for concealment, 100 rounds of ammunition and spare magazines. If coordinated in advance, pistols, magazines, and holsters can be made available.
Cost to Student: $20 to defray the cost of materials
Certificate: Yes, SC CWP Training Certificate

Advanced Defensive Pistol Shooting
Objectives: Provide advanced shooting scenarios for civilian concealed carry that include engaging multiple concurrent targets, shooting while moving, instinct shooting, and point shooting.
Prerequisite: The PGC CWP Course - (See Note)
Class Length: 10 Hours
Maximum Size: 4 - May vary depending on the number of instructors available.
Equipment Needed: Eye and Ear protection, modern handgun with strong side holster suitable for concealment, 400 rounds of ammunition, at least two spare magazines - or comparable revolver reloads.
Cost to Student: $20 to defray the cost of materials
Certificate: None
Textbooks: Locally Prepared Handouts.

Note: Prerequisites may also be satisfied by having the Chief Instructor or a pistol competition match director certify the individual has the requisite level of competent safe pistol handling experience for the course.
